Who likes the outdoors? Me, I love it, get me outside any day to experience some fresh air and a get a refresh in life. Gardening is definitely my choice of therapy. And what better time to get out than in the warm spring sunshine.
But what about getting down and scrubbing those old slabs, last summers dirt and fat stains, rust marks where the patio set has been left out. What about that big looming choice of which material shall we get down out here that's more practical, so less time can be spent maintaining it and more time enjoying and using it? First of all, what is porcelain 20mm?
Outdoor 20mm porcelain is specifically designed for outdoor use. It's made from porcelain, a super-dense and fired ceramic material, but with a thickness of 20mm to handle the extra wear and tear of being outside.
And this list is why i think it is your number one choice for a patio (in fact for me there is no other choice😄):
1. The strength of 20mm porcelain makes these tiles so durable! In fact we tried driving on the tiles with a LandRover Discovery 4, the tiles were on pedestals, (even we were nervous😬), and we made it 😄! 20mm thickness of the tiles makes it highly resistant to cracks, chips, and breaking, even under heavy furniture or foot traffic.
2. The heat and frost resistance, means that the tiles can survive the summer and winter changes in temperature without a problem! Compared to some natural stones, which expand and contract with temperature change, 20mm porcelain won't crack or crumble in harsh winters.
3. They are fade resistant, once installed these durable tiles will not change in colour! Again compared to natural stone which can dry out and change or be affected by the sealant choice, these really do stay the same as when they were first installed!
4. What about when I spill a drink or drop some food? Never fear! These tiles are as porous as glass (non-porous) 🤩this makes cleaning a breeze! Just sweep away dirt and grime, and occasionally give it a deeper clean with a mild detergent! And there is no need for the dirty job of regular sealing or special treatments like some natural stones!
5. Style! I think this is the best part, with a huge variety of styles and designs you can stay with a style for your whole project and such great style too! From inside to outside tiles, to authentic natural stone look, classic look, modern minimilist. What more can you ask for!
6. All 20mm porcelain tiles are also slip-resistant (spec sheets will specify the resistance) , so for pool surrounds or wet areas, so you are all covered!
